Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a third set.

He saved four early-game chances in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
