'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from outside the box, and his teammate quickly hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to celebrate, with fans mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory completed an incredible turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win secured a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's long-range effort from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way Orient attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Physically they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even seeing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without serious challenge. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that growth for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been quite the ride for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would blend in with fans on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
